The YOKOGAWA TY720 Digital Multimeter has shutters on it’s input terminals to prevent incorrect insertion of test leads when performing current or voltage measurements. These shutters open and close depending on the position of the selector switch ensuring that the instrument cannot be damaged due to the test leads being in the wrong input terminals. If the function is switched to other than current measurement while a test lead remains inserted in a current measurement terminal, the fuse built into the DMM can not protect the circuits. The terminal shutters thus prevent such accidental errors.
The YOKOGAWA TY720 Digital Multimeter conforms to overvoltage category 1000 V AC/DC, CAT and 600 V AC/DC, CAT IV.
