The Kyoritsu 5406A RCD Tester is a high-specification testing device featuring precise trip time and ramp current testing, controlled by a custom microprocessor for superior accuracy and reliability. Its constant current source circuitry ensures consistent readings, even when mains voltage fluctuates. Ideal for performing trip time and ramp current tests on RCDs in compliance with AS/NZS3760:2003 electrical regulations.
Bundled with the Kyoritsu KEW 2117R 1000A True RMS Clamp Meter, this kit offers a complete electrical testing solution. The KEW 2117R features a 0.01A resolution on the 60A range, a 33mm jaw size, and autoranging capability. It also measures ACV, DCV, resistance, and continuity, and includes non-contact AC voltage detection for added versatility and safety.

Kyoritsu 5406A RCD Tester
The Kyoritsu 5406A RCD Tester is used to test an RCD which is is a protective device used to automatically disconnect the electrical supply when an imbalance is detected between live conductors. In the case of a single-phase circuit, the device monitors the difference in currents between the active and neutral conductors.
In a healthy circuit, where there is no fault current flowing to earth or protective conductor current, the sum of the currents in the line and neutral conductors is zero. If a line-to-earth fault develops, a portion of the line conductor current will, therefore, not return through the neutral conductor. The RCD monitors this difference, operates and disconnects the circuit when the residual current reaches a preset limit, the “residual operating current”. This is what the Kyoritsu 5406A tests.

The KYORITSU 2117R AC Digital Clamp Meter measures AC current in three ranges 60A / 600A and 1000A in True RMS mode with a resolution of 0.01A on the lowest 60A range. The ranges change automatically as the measured value changes. The tear-drop jaws can measure cable with a maximum diameter of 33mm.
In addition KYORITSU 2117R also has other measurement functions AC Volts, DC Volts, Resistance, Continuity as well as Non Contact Voltage Detection.The function selector knob allows you to operate the device with one hand.
